Last report I can find is mid July. The wife has some friends with 4 year old twins coming down this weekend and as much as I don't want to be out on a lake on Saturday that's about the only option.

I normally fish Merwin but sounds like it is powering down a bit. I thought we might have better luck getting on Yale with the larger parking areas.

Thanks if anyone has any input. I'll let you know how the fire drill goes with two 4 year olds kokanee fishing!

Tight lines

I have not heard of anything in the last month, I know the last time I was out on Yale the kids were so busy with the poles they didn't have time to be bored. The north side of the lake just west of the Yale park launch was VERY productive for me. Pink and Purple were the hot colors for me.

Thanks mudinchev! I was planning on falling back on your last report for starters if no one has been out with updates. I just want to keep the kids entertained as well. Looks like you did well with that. Thanks again

Headed up there in a few minutes mostly to see if the newest new fish finder will work any better than the previous 2, we will fish for a little bit while we are there, no point in being on the water and keeping the lines dry.

It was not very good when we started but we found them. We could hardly keep four poles in the water. I had a blast.thumbsup

Fished it on Saturday after a quick Merwin limit in a howling wind. No fishfinder on the boat. I went left upwind from the Yale park launch and put on a green sling blade with a pink hoochie tipped with corn at 40ft. on the downrigger. The other rod had a old school ford fender with 1oz. and a UV red wedding ring at 75ft. on the line counter. Trolled for five minutes and both rods go off. Landed them both but could not get back on the school. The wind was just brutal. Left at 2:00 with six nice 10"+ kokes. They were in good shape and still had scales and one was just starting to red up.

Peace, Tom

Another great day

Dad found the fish again! We only fished from 12pm to 2pm. We caught 10 again and we used apexes for the first time and the seemed to work. Still not picky we got bites on every thing.

Wish I could find the "quick limit" place on Merwin, that lake still has me scratching my head. We only had a short time to fish today and Shawn (Wild Child) wanted to catch fish instead of hunt for fish on Merwin. I know what you are saying about the wind on Yale, it can be brutal. Staying on the fish with out a GPS in wind like that is impossible and even with one it is very hard. For the most part we were able to keep all 4 poles in the water but we had a triple for the first time today. That got exciting! One fish was a little dark but the rest of them were still in pretty good shape, last week end we had a couple of 4-5" fish, couldn't tell they were there except for the action on the pole changed a little.

This time of year I fish Merwin straight out from Speelyai and about a 1/4 mile left,(east?) from the launch and troll around the middle of the lake like a drunk. 60 to 70ft stacked on the downrigger. Vary speed from 0.8 to 1.8 mph. and turn a lot. UV dodger and pink hoochie, corn, red slingblade and silver apex with corn. 35ft setback bottom, 25ft. setback top. Both got hit hard by pikeminnow and kokes.

Got to the lake at 6;30am. Caught five nice 13 to 14" in two hours and the same ammout of seagull food.

Peace, Tom
