Well, it's happened. I need to add another tackle box. I am currently and will continue to use my Plano 1374 with 4 tray drawers but I am thinking my new box will be a bag instead. The plano drawers are nice, but not very deep so the bag would allow varied sizes of trays.

My question is for those of you that have been using bags, is one brand or style any better than another?

Trays are trays and there are wide assortments of them, but does the bag itself make much of a difference?

Over time I've acquired 3 or 4 different bags. Besides number of pockets, one bag might hold 1 more tray than another. For durability, I really like my Cabelas bags. They come in 3 different sizes. I've also got some cheap Wal Mart bags but the vinyl starts to wearout after a few years.

I have purchased a Plano bag from Wal-Mart for about $25.00. Plano does put out good products. It only holds 4 trays but it works well. SuperD is right about Cabelas having the different sizes. My next purchase will be a Cabelas bag. I do like what they have.

When I purchased a Pflueger reel years ago it came with a coupon for a free tackle bag. It is no where near the quality of the Cabela's bags, but it's been working out pretty good...carries 6 Plano box's, and has a bunch of pockets. I use the pocket's on the end to carry dodger's and small gang trolls in fold-up bags with 6 seperate see-through pockets that Cabela's carries.

Tackle Bags

I am using 2, 1 Large & 1 small.

I like to load up the smaller size because it takes less room on the boat but still has room for everything with 2 large & 6 smaller boxes.

I keep the larger one in the fishing shack with all the rest of the STUFF!!

I have about 16 Loomis top entry bags. They hold up well, look great, and stack 3 high very nicely. I recommend the top entry style bag vs. the side entry.

I took a look at Cabela's on line and like both their 3600 and 3700. I am pretty sure that is the way I am heading.

The discussion at home was, "why do you take all that stuff with you/us in the boat when you usually only use three or four things". I had no reply other than it's a koke thing, you have to be prepared. I hate having to defend my fishing philosophy from those who demonstrate common sensefencing

DLM..........Right On!.......Some people just dont understand especially the wife!

Like I said I use 2 bags.........But the 10 x 12 shed is now "The Fishing Shack" it holds everything else, almost! laugh hyst.................Kokonuts

The Tackle bags are all I use, right now I have several Plano bags that I got at Walmart. I am going to look into the Cabelas Bags , as was stated before that you might be able to get one more box into a little bit larger bag.
Kind of funny, you never seem to have enough of this stuff.

I've found that if I'm going on a single species trip I can carry a smaller bag but if I'm going for multiple species I use the Cabelas Large bag.

A fisherman always has about 3 or 4 tackle boxes or bags. Tackle keeps accumulating. No matter what store I go into, seems like I'm always walking out with a new piece of tackle.

Carrying only one bag on the boat would be like starting over! What would I leave home! ;-)

I am using the 3700 series boxes now. I have a bag from Walmart that was on sale with lots of boxes in it (seven, I think). Since then, I have replaced some of them with two taller boxes that allow me to put in larger pieces of gear.

I ordered a bag a couple days ago, Cabela's pro series, don't recall the number but it is red and holds the 3700 series trays and was about 20$ less than the catalog price. Should get it next Wed or Thurs.

Here is a tip I should pass on about ordering online. My wife (she who must be obeyed) works late on Wednesday and Thursday twice a month. On those days I beat her home. This is important when I order things and compute the delivery date. It's my way of showing how much I care and try my best to keep her from getting upset.laugh hyst

dlm, eliminate all chances for error and have it shipped to your office.

I learned several years ago that shipping packages to my office was the only way to keep the peace. My wife was constantly upset when new packages arrived for me, especially with fishing gear she swore I already had. I still have to ship one or two items to the house a year so it doesn't look suspicious.

I have also found that orders will arrive one or two days earlier at a business address than a home address from some companies.

DLM, Next time buy a pair of matching small lures that you know they catch fish, remove the hooks, and make EARRINGS for her. Make sure she wears them next time your out fishing. When your on the lake, be a little romantic and tell her those earrings become her. laugh hyst

Got my Cabela's 3700 pro guide bag yesterday. UPS left it on the porch, luckly, she who must be obeyed was shopping and did not come in that door when she got home;)

Gave it a good inspection this morning (she was sleeping) and I am pretty impressed with the design and storage space. Now with a 4 day weekend I should be able to start filling it up, first I have to tie up about 30 hook sets.....
