I'm looking into a trip to Bear Lake after Labor Day about mid or later September. The lakers should be in the spawn and this would be festive to CPR some big boys. The weather will be plenty cooled off by then making fishing enjoyable. Bear Lake Cutthroats should start getting active too. Are there any other interests in planning a day or maybe a weekend? Pyramid Lake north of Reno, Nv has a similiar type lake to Bear with outstanding Layhonton Cutthroats. Pyramid has a fest in the spring & fall with a group of people gathering for a blast of fishing. I went to a fall fest 2yrs ago and had a great time fishing and meeting alot of the folks from western Nevada & Calif. Any thoughts? 101ok101

Although this is open to any & all who want to travel, this would be a nice outing for those who are within a couple of hours drive. This is only an idea but my plans regardless of how this turns out will be making a trip in the next month there. I will probably start frequenting Bear L until the cold & snow conditions slam the door shut. Also, I know the hunting season is upon us but this would be fun for those who could do it. Hunting season tends to make less lake traffic and most of the lice has put away their toys by then. There is a KOA campground on the western side in Garden City and primitive campgrounds with fire rings on the eastern side north of Lake Town in the Cisco Beach area. These sites on the eastern side are right next to the water and belong to state parks recreational. There is also paved launch ramps with a courtesy dock only until the snows start which the state removes the docks. There is also a state park in Garden City with well developed daytime facilities, excellent launch ramp, boat slips in a protected jetti surrounding near the KOA. Ideas are welcomed. This can be an annual event.

Putting out a date and seeing who wants to show up would give us an idea on how we can make it work out in the future. I'm thinking of the weekends Sept 15 or Sept 22. Weather should be plenty warm still without interfering to much with some hunts. How does this sound?

I am planning on being there Roger. 12, 13, 14th and maybe the 15th. Gonna stay on the boat or at the marina in the MH.

Last Trip of the year for me, then I am winterizing and locking up the boat and gear!

Keep chiming in guys & gals, lets make it work. I would like to see this turn into an annual thing if we can stir enough interest.

Either weekend looks equally workable for me, unless the wife needs the truck to trailer horses :-(

BTW, for any of you traveling from the south through Logan and needing to gas up, Jardine Petroleum (about 1100 west off 2nd North) has 88 octane non-ethanol gas and is not out of the way and very easy to get to if you take the 10th West bypass.

Roger, my son and I would love to attend the gathering. Just need to know when . I am planning to be at Bear Lake the weekend right after Labor Day to get a start on fishing there. Please keep us informed.

We will shoot for for Sept 15. After talking with the wifee, I'm able to get a kitchen pass for Sept 22 too. I should be able to make both weekends work out.

Pick a date and move forward Roger. Do they allow fires at Bear Lake? There is bomb fire wood that will be needed for the Saturday night pot luck. Roger, get the sign up thread and the what people are bringing thread started! You guys will have a blast!!!
