Well, after numerous lessons from all you guys, I finally took the recently re-outfitted boat out to catch kokanee. My wife and I caught two kokes on day 1, two on day two and three on day 3. Total fish counts were 3, 4, 10 on those days. We had two king salmon in the mix on the last day. It's hard for me to say what was working the best because I don't think we ever got the combination down correctly to catch kokanee while excluding trout. I can say that we caught fish on almost everything in the tackle box. Pink was an effective color. The most effective lures were the Shasta Tackle Pee Wee wiggle hoochies in pink and orange splatter patterns. I caught kokes on a pink wee tad, a pink spinner, a pink humdinger and the wiggle hoochie. The fish ranged from 12 to 17 1/2 inches (for a king) and the kokes ran 14 1/2 inches. Other people claim better results, but that doesn't surprise me as this was my first try. Depths were 25 to 45 feet. Scents were garlic and Kokanee special. We fished the Big Island with the fleet of 30 boats all three days, doing the "dance" .
