Where are they............. Don't know if it is me or what. Even though it is early in the season, i havn't heard of hardly any kokes over three pounds. Been out a few times and you can catch all the two pounders you want as quick as you want but the bigger fish seem to be eluding me. Everyone that i've talked to has the same report. I'm sure with the derbies coming up someone will find them. Who knows maybe the burbot got them. LOL

Someone smarter than me probably knows about fish running together but a couple of years ago we'd catch small fish all day in a location and the next day catch big fish in that same location but never at the same time. It was either small fish, 40 fish days or a dozen fish day of 3 + pounders. It has made me wonder if on days we catch a lot of small fish that it is a sign we just need to pick up and move. Leave fish to find fish as it were.

Those kokes have one more month to fatten up before I get there. I'm always happy happy to catch the 2lb class. When I'm catching, my technique is working. tooexcited

Didn't have a scale with me but I caught one today that was 19". Biggest one we got by far. I'm assuming the cookie cutter 2 lbers are the 16"ers we were catching all morning long so at least we found one that I'm going to guess was pushing 3 lbs. Good morning to be on the water though! Kokes are active this year!!! First time out this year and it was awesome!

There just aren't a lot of the 4th years in the lake this year. 4 years ago, the hydroacoustic surveys said about 390k fish came to spawn. 3 years ago, about 1.3 million fish came to spawn. So, ratio wise, you are about 3 to 1 on 3rd years to 4th years.

A week ago, we were catching 6 3rd years to every 4th year. It's a pretty small sample size but you see what I'm saying. And, the ones we caught were much deeper (about 40 ft) than the 3rd years (between 13 and 20 feet).

There are out there we got one over 3 today and one over 3.5 and lost a two more that were at least 3 but the majority of them are 2-2.5

I've thought about the fish of similair size running together and i agree. The thing is you move and move and move, still nada. I've even tried targeting the small pods and singles, same outcome. After talking with some of my friends, they are reporting the same news so I think there is something to the theory of not many fourth year fish. The good thing about it is being able to take new people out and knowing your going to have a good day.
