Went to the coast a couple weeks ago to escape the valley heat and de-virginize my boat in the salt water. The weather conditions were darn near perfect but that unfortunately didn't translate into perfect sea conditions. Every day was varying degrees of lumpy with some days bobbing in the swells that wanted to swallow up my boat. The first day we got camp set up and decided to do an afternoon exploring trip. Put rods down out by the Whistle Bouy and I got lucky with this nice chunk. First ocean salmon blood to hit my deck.

The next day we had an opportunity at what felt like a really nice fish but it came unbuttoned after a couple minutes of pulling drag. The best day was Saturday when we headed south and the seas were at least a little calmer. My buddy Carl had the hot rod and boated 3 nice salmon with the largest going 25 lbs +.

Nice Fish SuperD; There's just something about salt and big fish! I will have to "settle" for kings on the Columbia at the mouth of the Deschutes in September. Always a good time and great fishing. Alan 101chromefish101

I don't get near the pucker factor on river salmon that I do with ocean salmon. The fish in the picture promptly ran out 200' of line and refused to give any of it back. It was a serious adrenaline rush!

OH MAN, I sure do miss Bodega Bay. Done my fare share of crabbin' from my boat when I lived in Cali. That's a nice fish Dave, very envious. 101ok101

Headed out this morning under the Golden Gate in search of some more. Film at 11:00.

Okay, we started out at the West Sac park & ride at 4:10 this morning full of thoughts of limits of salmon and time for some rock fish on the side. Well, a slow bite pretty much burst that bubble. We ended up with 3 fish for the day, about 9 hours of fishing. I was able to contribute with big fish of the day.
