So is there some place a guy can set up his 5th wheel and then take his boat out for a little fishing??

Yes, there are areas more on the Wyoming side and some in the Lucerne area. These areas would be closer to the waters edge. There is a recreational use pass fee for Flaming Gorge, Daily, weekly, or annual. Swim beach & Sheep Creek, Ut side, Holmes Crossing & Anvil Draw on Wyo. side just to name a couple. Launch ramps available at or nearby. For a recreational use pass contact US Forest Service at 435-784-3445 and they can tell you where to pick one up.

I've seen people beach their boat at FG but it is not the kind of lake where I'd try it. The strong winds and wave action can swamp a beached boat in a moments notice.

There are numerous places from Lost dog all the way down to Swim beach, along with the sheep Creek area that you can camp right at the waters edge. You only need the pass that Bduck explained and your set. Just make sure that you button things down and tie off good with the afternoon winds.

Make sure you tie off from three spots. That's what I do and so far I haven't had any problems. I would put one of those plastic hull savers.
