Back from the trip and a bit caught up at home and work, so posting a brief report.
The fishing and camping were great, but the koke-catching eluded us for the most part the first couple days. At first we tried to avoid the flotilla assembled off Breeze Hill, and we found several other places marking a lot of fish, especially big and dense balls of them, but could not get them to play.
We gave in and joined the fleet the second day, but we obviously were missing a piece of the puzzle as we only got a few to play. Finally found a set up that was working by the third morning before we had to head home, and we ended up with some really nice males (about half starting red, others very silver yet). Overall, the size of the fish we took home was a good bit better than we (as relative newbies to this) have done on prior trips.
Probably will not make it to the Gorge again this year, but perhaps to Strawberry this next week end.
Tight lines to all.
