for those trout fishermen, i've heard some stellar reports about camas. neighbor went two days ago and killed em. buddy went today with he same results. hearing about lots of 16"-20" fish. nice when that place gets a couple of years of good hold over. cant take it so i'm heading over first thing in the a.m. to do some trolling. i'll post a report when i get back. hopefully i'll have some nice pics too.

well, you could not have asked for a more beautiful day on the water. in the boat by 8:00am and calm as could be. first fish boated by 8:05am, and it stayed that way until we decided to leave around 2:30pm. lots of things worked well, but once we started trolling w/silver/red super dupers w/2 #4 sinkers, it was insane!! we never did find the bruisers. all were 12"-14" healthy fish with a fight in them that you wouldnt believe. those dark meated suckers are goig to grill up great. cant even say how many we caught, probably lost damn near the same. they were very aerial!! caught a nice bonus 3 1/2" smallie on the east side too. lots of bank anglers but only a few of us on the water. worth the trip if your looking for some action.

Went to Camas today and it looks like the "footballs" are back. I was on the water in my float tube at around 8:30. Caught a few 14" fatties on a Canadian brown leach and one small planter on a Stayner ducktail.

At around 10:00 a.m. I switched to a black wooly bugger. Wow, the bite was on then. I landed a 19" fatty that pulled me around for a bit. Almost all of the fish today went airborn and fought hard. They were very bright as well. I caught three little tagged fish that must have just been stocked. Even they fought like champs.

It was cold, rainy and windy...couldn't have asked for more. The bite seemed to be from 10:00-12:00. It was picking up again at 1:00 but the wind was so bad I decided to take off. I would say that I landed around 15 fish total. Go get 'em while you can.

Hey Kokanee Vandal,

Great report! What area of Camas were you fishing at? What type of line (II, III, IV) were you using? Thanks for the report!

Sluggo,

I pulled into the second "approved" road (just off the main road) and backed into a pull-out. The water was weedy and shallow for the first 5 yards, then it got deeper. As for the line, not sure as to the type, but it was sinking tip. They seemed to like a decent retrieval speed. I tried some "twitch" retrieves but it did not seem to matter. I will be there this Sunday or Monday. I have a white Chevy with a camper shell. If you see me, stop by.

I had never fished at Little camas until this year, I knew very little except that fly fisherman like it. Which usually means something because they are not looking to limit out on 8'' stockies. First head out mid April it was very cold at night and the fishing didnt turn on till 2pm. Then it was crazy! I must have landed 15 fish in an hour. All fat fat 13''-15''. They would start yaking out nymphs and other larva as soon as you netted them. I started getting kind of bored reeling in 14''er after 14'' then on my way back to the camper I watched this fly fisherman land a BIG 18-19''. I paddled a few laps around him in amazement. I had no idea there were fish that nice in this little mud puddle of a reservoir. I must drive past 30 times a winter and it always looks dry. The first week of May I went back and the fishing was just as red hot. I went out with my dad and he had his limit in 20 minutes. I had put so many fish in the freezer from last time, I was only going to keep 18"+ fish. Well it didnt take long. I netted a 20''er that must have been 4'' across the back. Most places that fish would be 7+ years old. In little camas my guess is that he was 3 years old. The guy who bought the property on the corner of hwy20 and the turn off for L. camas said he had been landing 22"-24" while ice fishing there this winter. If the water holds over for another year you could see the average be 18'' with lots of 20+ers

yeah I cant figure out the link process on this forum. Little Camas was not red hot, but pretty good Sunday. Brought home two Limits. Algae Bloom is getting pretty bad. Trolling is going to be hard within two weeks. we stayed to the north half and still had to check our trolling gear every 15 minutes and clean the slime off. Fish are deep. just off the bottom where the algae is. All very fat 13-16''. lost 2 that seemed bigger than the normal.

Son was there saturday bank fishing with wife they killed them. Went there this morning fished from bank, Got snowed on and rain mixed, plus windy, good day to stay at home. But, brought home a few with that beauyiful red meat to eat.

Well, went again yesterday and it was not too hot. The temperature outside was hot but the fishing was slow. Caught 5 in the 14" range from 8:00 to 1:00. I was in my float tube again. I took a friend and I assured him that he would catch a few at least...well you know how that went. Oh well, that's fishing. There was quite the algae bloom as stated above and there were a ton of bugs hatching. My hunch as a fly fisherman is that the fish were simply full. The hot weather probably had somethin to do with it as well.

It was a beautiful day though. Good luck out there, I know they are in there but you will have to work now for them.
