After recieving txt messages from a couple of my fishing partners about the hurtin they were putting on the Koks over the weekend, I decided to get off the couch and hit Clear. Hit the lake about 11:30 A/M and it didn't take long to get my limit. The water was pretty rough as there were 4 to 5 rec boaters who were really churning it up. The fish were biting so I fished away and had my limit by 1:30. They aren't American Lake size but nonetheless fun to catch.

AquaKing,
I've fished American as late as Nov 3 according to my fishing logs. The main reason is because my favorite coastal stream was probably punched out, as I'm usually out there chasing after some late season coho or early winter run steelhead!!!
The kokes during that time of year are usually in their spawning stage and have changed shape, color, and their table fare has dropped off quite a bit, unless of course you like smoked kokanee!!! As you can see from the pics!!! Surprisingly enough though the larger picture of 2 kokanee was caught on May 26th of this year!!! Late spawner/bloomer I guess, I caught her fishing along the "Trench" on American down 60' the day after I caught my first 2 18" kokanee's of the season!!! The late bloomer was 19 1/2" long, I had asked a couple of hatchery folks and the Region 6 bio about this koke, as to the reason why she was still alive this late in the 2012-2013 season, or should I say early in the 2013-2014 season. No real rock solid reply, as to the reason why she was still swimming around other than she was still looking for a date!!! Given her general state(spawned out) I released her to live out the rest of her days in American.
Gotta love American Lake!!!
See you out there when the rivers are blown!!!
