Collins lake Resort

Im visiting my son and famly for a couple weeks at Tracy CA . My grandson wanted to go camping and fishing before he starts college in TX. I reserved a campsite and rentel boat at Collins lake near Yuba City last weekend. Because its summer I brought along a couple trolling rods with Lead line. I let my son and grandson use the lead line rods and I tried using a spinning rod . They hooked several 12 , 13 "rainbown both days , and landed a few.Pretty good action for first time on the lake . They both offered then trolling rods to me but i enjoyed seeing them catch fish . On Sunday the last hour before we quit for the weekend I relented and traded rods with my son. we were trolling threaded nitecrawlers behind a small dodger. i soon had a heavy hit and after a good fight landed a very nice 20 " rainbow I estamited at 4+ lbs .
I want to go back and try my flyrod with a sinking line and some woolyboogers.

Did you happen to get one of their ice cream cones up at the store? Great ice cream! Next time you are in the area, there are some other spots a lot closer to Tracy for you to try.

I sounds like you picked a good time to go. Collins can be very busy with "lice" during the summer, it keeps me away this time of year but you got fish and thats what counts. Pardee would be a good place to check into next time. Closer to Tracy and better fishing and "NO LICE"!!

Of Course ! Its very good and a huge scoop ! I moved from N. CA in 68. A friend of my sons had a great trip on Mothers day weekend . I gave it a try.
Next time I'll ask for advice here. My sone and granson enjoyed it alot

What are some of the good places that are closer to Tracy? I would like to explore some of them next time I am visiting my family out there. Also, I will be staying at the City Club Hotel New York next week, and I am wondering if anyone has any good suggestions for places to fish over there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
