This is the fishing equivalent of creeping underwear! I have had experience with my lead crimps slipping, even though I crimp them down with the correct plier tool. I think it happens when I lower my ball quickly and then brake more quickly than I should. Does anyone else have this problem? What can be done to fix it? Thanks!

When I crimped, I used 2 sleeves. Now I use the ends that BB mentioned. I didn't have slipping problems with either method.

When I was using metal crimps, I used 2 or 3 and snaked them if I had room. Now I use the Cannon terminations, and they never slip.

I use 2 crimps and have not had any problem. They're the same crimps I use for wire line on my "big" Sturgeon rods. The biggest fish was over 12' and no slip.

I really like the cannon terminators. They are easy to put on and other than wire cutters require no tools.I also like that the cable doesn't touch the wire eye of the ball.

Good to know about the canon product. I have been using the Scotty equivalent now for two years...

it is the 1038 Cable coupler.

I do use one rigger with the standard crimped version and it has 4 crimps and never slips. I use the crushing portion of the needle nose. Pliers and apply pressure to both sides very firmly.

I've been using 3 crimps on my wire. Maybe it's not enough. I do appreciate learning about what you guys are using.
