Double snell????

Kokanee Fishing Forums

Help Support Kokanee Fishing Forums:

I just learned this winter and I like to tie the rear hook first and then the front hook. I'll see if I can find a link to the animated step by step. There are several methods shown on the web but many of them were confusing to me. I found one that was easy for me so that is what I use.

Those using the egg loop, how do you manage your hook spacing?

After you tie the first egg loop knot the spacing is easy. Just adjust the distance as you place your second hook onto the leader. The link below is to a youtube video. The video is not great quality but you should get the idea.

Here's another style of egg loop knot. It's called a Pimped out egg loop. It looks much easier to tie and the video is better quality.

Okay, I'll play too.

I have been tying my egg loops the traditional way for years, and like many fought the battle of the loop, especially when tying the second or front hook.

About two weeks ago I came across the link below. I watched this guy tie the egg loop from what I call the "front end" instead of from the hook end and I just stared in amazement, why did'nt I think of that. This is so simple and easy to do.worthy12
ps: I come to Sacramento for a few days and all I get is the same rain I could get at home, that's just rude.crymeariver

Thanks DLM I just took several Pictures trying to explain how to do this and I only tie the forward hook like this but it works very well and here is the second one I tied this year just as tight as you want.

Don't be afraid to play with your egg loop knots. Below is a photo of a variation that I use below Wells Dam when bottom bouncing for late summer Chinooks. It is tied using large corkies and 3/0 hooks but you could use much smaller hooks and smaller corkies or beads and maybe even a spinner or two when going after Koke’s. The possibilities are endless.

It is always easier to snell over the eye of the hook then the bend starting with the trailer hook! I'm not sure why people snell their loops over the bend and work the other way??? Looping over the bend of the hook is much more cumbersome.

Thanks guys for that Infomatiom about tying Snelled hooks. I've been going to try that for a while, now I think I'm going to try to do some. 101goodpost101
