Today I finally bought a down rigger. I got a mini lake troll. I chose this rigger because I am currently without a boat. The guy I usually go with has an aluminum boat that I can clamp it to the side of. The two rods I have to choose from are the same med lite action. One is 6' and the other is 7'6. Which do you think would be better?

Are the 2 you have to chose from because you already own them or they are 2 you are looking at? I would recommend 7'-6" UL as a kokanee rod. Shakespear Agility rods are usually under $40.

Agree, 7'6" Light. I have Lamiglas CGR 762L, Lamiglas CGR 802L, Okuma SST-S-762L. They all catch fish. I can't ever find the elusive Ugly Stik ones. Somebody is buying them all up and hoarding them or something..

I already have the rods, I've used both koke fishing and have down well with them long lining. I wasn't sure which one would be better for a rigger

When the rod is put in the rigger clip, it should be loaded up so that when it pops out of the clip the big spring back sets the hook and takes out some of the slack. Stiffer rods are just hard to get to load up without popping them out of the clip.

I have been looking at a tica 8' rod, don't know the number but it is raspberry color and I think it is new for this year, anyone have any experience with it. I have a 7'6" tica which works just fine.

I am. How much deeper will my gear be than the ball 100' back?

Probably a couple feet above unless you are in an inside turn (slow side of the boat). Line and dodger drag will belly it up just a bit but not enough to be concerned about in either the above or below direction.
