Some days ball flashers work very well. I start out the day with ball trolls and a short set-back on one side of the boat and farther back without trolls on the other and let the fish decide. The majority of days in the early morning we end up with the trolls. They seem to work best before the sun gets directly over head... might be a bit too much flash after that. I attach the release clip around 4' above the ball and let out line until the dodger is a few feet in back of the trolls with the lure trailing. I usually try to keep the ball just above the main pack showing on the screen.
