The link below will take you to an early promotional video of Duckworth boats.

Ernie Duckworth was trying to develop an aluminum boat that could withstand the pounding of the Snake River. He and his wife Anne spent hours in the kitchen with pieces of cardboard forming hulls and trying to figure out the perfect boat design.

His first attempts were at riveted boats. Each time he went up river he would have to replace several rivets that popped and tore out battling the rapids. He realized this was not the way to go.

He and his wife Anne spent hours in the kitchen with pieces of cardboard forming hulls and trying to figure out the perfect boat design.

Then came a major develpment. Ernie learned how to weld aluminum from a man that was making aluminum stock trailers for ranchers. Test runs on the Snake proved that the welded seams would hold together and the rest is history. Ernie was true pioneer of the welded aluminum boat.

Ernie passed away from cancer in the fall of 2004 just a few months after our grandson. Austin Duckworth, was born. (see avatar).

The video shows Ernie taking on 90+ miles of some of the worst the Snake has to offer, simply amazing.

Makes me glad I have one of his last boats! Heliarc Pro Sport! I'm not sure when the last one was built but I looked for about a year before finding mine, and it is a 98. I have not looked in a while but I never saw one that was any newer than that. Any one know when he stopped building them?

1998 is when Ernie sold the business to the current owners.
