8 "Old Guys" from Lincoln, Ca descended on the Gorge on Sunday 7/22 for 6 days of some of "the most awesome koke fishing of our lives". BIG FISH (to 4.5 lbs) and LOTS OF FISH (10 to 20+ per person per day). Temperatures were not too bad and fish were not all that deep (35 to 55 feet). So practicing a little carefull release technique resulted in great survival rate.
Fish were taken all the way south to Manila (our home base this trip) and as far north as Breeze Hill. "MOST" bigger fish seemed to be middle marsh and farther north. When the bite was on, most anything pink or orange worked ( Apex's, Rocky Mountain Signature squids and Assassin spinners, and a great day trying out Mag Lure's Deceiver squids). However green and purple squids and "Kavorkian" Apex's were also a killer as things clouded over. Flashers/dodgers were somewhat important with several guys using chrome with pink tape "Wild Things". Others had great success with Rocky Mountain "hyperplaid" or "fusion" dodgers.
What is a person to learn from all of this discussio? THE GORGE IS HOT THIS YEAR SO DON'T MISS OUT ON THE OPPORTUNITY!!!! The fish are big, hungry, getting ready to spawn early and they are moving north!!!!
TIGHT LINES TO ALL FROM THE "LINCOLN BOYS"
