It has taken almost 4 months, but IGFA has finally approved my application for a new world record line class kokanee. The fish was submitted for the 4 lb line class, but the 4 lb P-Line I was using tested at 4.8 lbs and the upper limit for the 4 lb line class is 4.41 lbs. The record is for the 6 lb line class.

It has been along wait and it is a joy that the record is official.

The fish was 26 inches long, had a girth of 16 inches and weighed 7.495 lbs. A fish of a life time.

where was it cought, on what, and what is considered an average BIG koke in that water. In other words, are fish over 20 inches cought there with some regularity?? That is truly a fish of a lifetime, Congratulations..

I don't think going back in is the cards this year. I think the population is shifting and there are not very many big fish. Nothing we caught suggested next year will be anything but an average year with average sized fish.

This couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. You'll remeber this moment for the rest of your life, unless you break your own record next year.

I like the shirt in the picture....

am I out of line asking this??

This was not really a fishing report per se.

The fish was caught on a home-made spinner and at times fish over 20" can be found. The lake is in flux and the population dynamics are pointing that the average size of the fish is declining. Very few large fish were caught this year. I was very fortunate to have connected with a large fish.

thanks, thats the biggest koke I have ever seen .... now we all have a quest. Congratulations, Just getting that fish in the boat is a feat of fishing skill. how long did you baby it before you went for the net??
