Greetings all, it finally happened, I caught my first kokanee. I owe it all to this great forum. I have learned so much from all of you, special thanks to DLM for the extra pointers on spinners. I fished Green Peter on 5/7/2010. Hit the water at 5AM, kinda dark and had to go real slow due to the logs in the water. I got to the island at day break, not another boat on the water, smooth as glass. I ran 2 lines out 150 feet behind the boat, both with sling blades and home made spinners with corn on the hooks. The lines were not in the water 5 minutes and one rod went down, before I could get to the rod, the other went down as well. I sure am glad I was the only one out there. Anyone watching this spectacle would have wet their pants laughing at me trying to fight 2 fish and miss the logs with the boat. Both fish in the boat. I let out the first line again and did not get 20 feet of the second line out before the first rod went down again, another fish in the boat.
What a great start to my first Kokanee trip. I wound up with 14 in the boat and lost that many more. I saw lots of folks catching fish and several not doing any good. Because of all of you I was in the first group, not the second group.
Thanks to all of you.
Is there a cure for Kokanee fever?
