I started kokanee fishing last year when I bought 10 acres in the Caribou right across the street from Bridge lake.

I have been using leadcore line going out 2 to 4 colours, 20 ft leader and apex lures, hotshots and dick nites to some success.
11 this early summer on apex 2 to 3 lbs but fishing has tapered.

Going up this wednesday and was looking for tackle and technique tips for late august.

I picked up some tiny 3 and 4 inch dodgers that should not overload my 6wt flyrods.
How long a leader? Should I attatch the dodger right to the leadline or should I have 10 to 40 ft of mono/flouro then the dodger and leader/lure.

Any flytips would be great, I have some sockeye flies in Pink/white.
Would spin'n'glo's be effective as well as hoochies up north?

Thanks everyone

I would have at least 20 ft. of leader so that you are not fighting the knot in the guides. Some have luck with spin glows but I have yet to use them. This time of year I am thinking small baits so I will some times just use a couple 5mm beads above the hooks. I will also use scents on the corn such as anise combinations or tuna oil.

Good luck

Robin

I was down on the Island a couple weeks ago with a couple friends, limited out on Springs and Hali off the West Coast.... Couple guys are out for the Sockeye opening, one tried my Spin'n'glo on a hoochie rig I use here on Kokes. Worked well, but they were getting their limit on just about anything with a hook. I'd try the flies behind a small flasher. I use a 000 LureJensen and a couple others close in size 5-8". Pink/white Spin'n'glo is still my #1 lure, Apex and hoochies #2

I always tie on a stinger hook as well, turns hits into fish.
