Got up to the Gorge at Buckboard for a couple of days with Wiperhunter2 and Olychild (owner of Kokanee Creek Tackle). We got a late start on Thursday but were on the lake fishing by 8am. Started catching fish right away with the average koke being 2.5- 3 lbs, the smaller fish were around 12”. Water temp started off around 62* and by the time we got off the water around 5 or 6pm was up to 72*, It was an awesome day and great company but it was, way too hot after such a cool spring and by days end I was feeling the effects of all that sun. We kept 4 that first day and after filleting them, We grilled them up for dinner . Wyoguy was fishing there as well and he brought some corn over to add to the feast and all I can say is Wow, nothing like fresh caught salmon and sweet corn, thanks Gary, it was good to meet you. We caught around 30 that first day with a few of the smaller(12-22”) macks thrown in for good measure. We used a variety of lures and tackle but the KCT black pearl, hot damn, and playmate spinners, was the hot ticket for us, trolled at 1.4 to 1.7mph.
We got an earlier start yesterday and were fishing a little after 6am , again we started catching fish within a few minutes of getting the lures down. I think because we started fishing earlier the fish were closer to the surface with some being caught at 15 ft. Overall the catching was a little slower but since we were going home that day, WH2 and I kept a limit of the bigger kokes and we had our 6 fish by 9:30am. We moved to another area and were picking up some smaller fish but managed one nice Bow that went 18-19” and around 3 lbs. Friday seamed to be more ofa squid bite then a spinner pite but both worked well, KCT glow pink and Orange squids where hot used KCT dodgers (Matrix, Shattered and silver streak). called it quits a little after 2pm because we still had the make the long drive home and we were still feeling the effects of all that sun. A big thanks to Onlychild for being such a gracious host and for WH2 for coming along. It was a great way to start off the summer fishing season. I will try and post pic later, i put them on my desk top when i got home and soon after the computer crashed and now have to use the slow laptop

We were up there also yesterday-Saturday. Temps were about the same as Petty4life mentioned 62 in the morning early. We also got the action going with some 6" small kokes hitting our gear. We went down a little father (about 35 feet) and got out of them into bigger fish. We were using similar tackle from RM Tackle-using squids, custom spinners from a friend of mine, and similar dodgers, We were also trolling just a bit faster but the fish were very aggressive. It was hot and we were off by 2:30 and had let many kokes go.

As you can see I'm not much of a poster here-mainly I read when I have time. My wife saw this forum and swore she would sign up as tell all/post pictures if I didn't. I just did you all a favor ; )
Here are a few of what we caught-mainly in the 2-3 lb range-

Welcome aboard already gone 101welcomw Great fish post and your first on this board. Hope to see you put up more here.

Its always fun going to the Gorge, Jason. Looks like its turning on hot now with some nice size to the kokes. I just took my trailer and put into dry storage at Lucerne today. Certain circumstance kept me from taking it up there earlier. Those same circumstances are still looming. Its starting to look like I'll make the KFF gathering. I'm almost out of the woods on this one.

The river that is feeding the south end of Linwood Bay is keeping the waters at that end chocolate brown. The lake is running near full pool.

Didn't know you were around-just looked at your website. You have some nice looking gear! I'm going to have to try some of it out or maybe I already have and don't know it? I don't come on line much but I have friends and we try different things if you know what I mean.

Thanks for the welcome Bduck. I'm more of a "opportunity lurker" that gets out a lot and probably have friends here-just don't know their screen names.

Thanks so much for your generous hospitality Art, I'm sure it was one of the best trips I've had to the Gorge. When you get a chance, could you send me an Email with the pics you took? I'll send you a PM in a few minutes with my Email address.

Nice haul there Curt. The season can end as fast we didn't see a spring this year. Better get back up to the Gorge.

Man I hope I can make it to the gorge for kokes this year. Been there a couple times for macs, but never targeted kokes. These posts are great. The little dinks at Porcupine I usually fish for are bait for those big boys out there!
