Headed up reservoir last night for a change in scenery. I fished a couple of hours, camped, and fished this morning. I mostly trolled the area around Big Bend and Lowe Canyon. Fishing was pretty steady, and I caught several pup lake trout and some nice kokes up to 3lbs. There were a bunch of pups on the flat just north of the Skunk Cliffs. They were hitting just about anything last night, even my koke gear, but when I targeted them with a RMT spoon in Tequila Sunrise it got really good. I kept a few lakers last night and finished up the limit this morning. Kokes were hitting a variety of lures (even when I was targeting lake trout) but a RMT dodger in Hyperplaid (small or large) with a pink squid (Shasta, RMT, Lakeshore) was best. Koke fishing was much faster this morning. There was a significant algal bloom in that area which was collecting on my lines and periodically causing false releases. Other than that, it was a quick trip, but well worth it.
