Hi Everyone,
My Name is Mitch, I live in a city called Newcastle, Australia. Newcastle is a coastal city about 2hrs north of Sydney. I mostly fish offshore for pelagic's and bottom reef fish, I also fish Newcastle harbour for Mulloway. I have family in Truckee CA and have been to there twice. I have caught rainbow's at Boca and Mackinaw at Tahoe and a kokanee is next on my list. My wife and I are heading over in April - May and I am trying to find out if you can catch kokanee at that time of year, I am also looking for a good fishing guide to put me on the fish. From what I can gather, Stampede seems to be the best in the Truckee area for kokanee.
Here are some fish that I have caught here, Mulloway 24kg (53lb), Black Marlin 20kg (44lb), Spanish Mackerel 9kg (20lb).

101welcomw MajorMitchell 101welcomw Sounds like your a little familiar with some of our fishing waters. My dad use to camp host at Stampede. This is a good lake for catching bows & kokes. Your right its not far out of Truckee. April-May time frame should be good for a kokanee catch. Another lake to put on your list would be Pyramid Lake north of Reno for some Lahonton Cutthroat trout. Lets us know how you do and with pic's of coarse.

Welcome aboard Mitch.101welcomw Lots of great information here to read up on but by the looks of your pictures you'll have no trouble getting into a few kokanee. Looking forward to reading your reports! signfishin
