As the Kokanee season comes to an end I was going to turn my attention to the smallmouth. Any info on tackle and tactics would be appreciated.I am planning on camping at Buckboard on Labor day weekend and try to see more of the scenery and try for differant fish for a change. We will still try for some 2 year kokes but really want to fish for bass while we are down there.

Try rootbeer yamamoto curly tail grubs 3"-4"! Crawfish imitations are hot this time of year especially around underwater ledges. The smallies lay in the shade under these ledges and nab crawfish and minnow imitations as they fall or swim by. GOOD LUCK!

Like Smokeonthewater stated, jigs are a "go-to" bait. You could also try topwaters, early and late. They are a blast when the topwater bite is on and you can catch some nice fish too. I typically use Rebel PopRs in the shad colors. Good luck, Ryno
