Finally got up to the Gorge to fish for Koke's. i am apy to see a good solid class of 2 to 2 & 3/4 pounders being caught this year. Only two of my Koke's were smaller than 2 pounds. W caught several fish this weekend and real shallow. The biggest Koke we caught was at 6 feet using Christenson's Lake Shore Tackle Spinner (Red beads with Hammered Nickel Blade). This is what I caught the majority of my fish on. The rest of the fish I caught on the same spinner but a couple different colors. I could not catch a fish on a squid this weekend, I tried I really did. Caught a few small mack's and a few rainbows with these spinners to. Good Luck to everybody fishing anywhere.

Glad to see you did well. For me it was opposite. I went yesterday, 6-11-11, for the day and used a RMT fusion dodger in both 4.5" & 5.5" with a red splatter, purple haze, double glow pink and cotton candy squids. With 2 rods out, there for a while I wasn't able to get a cup of coffee poured. I was staying really busy. Since I was up there for few hours, I wanted to take care of catching fish instead of trying different tackle. That sure took care of my fix. I caught about 20-25 kokes, no lakers this trip. This might be the only chance or day I get for the Gorge this year. And now its over. crymeariver My job maybe taking me out of town for the summer soon. I'm hoping for the miracle or to pull some magic. I have some magic.

Great reports. It looks like the fishing has been really good lately. I may be heading down there next weekend. How was the water clarity?? I know the run-off still has not started up here in Jackson. There is still a TON of snow in the Wind River mts. I hope it waits a week !!

j laker, we fished out of squaw hollow wed, water was clear, a buddy of mine said he fished north of buckboard towards the confluence said the water is off color up there, the green river is still high and running hard, so is the blacksfork.

Where's Hot?

Awesome report. I'm glad to hear your possible one trip this year turned out so well. I'm going out tomorrow and I was hoping you might tell me where you were fishing? (Or if anyone else knows of any hot spotstooexcited) I'll make sure to share results with pics when I get back. Thanks.

Welcome aboard COLETRAIN. I mainly concentrated on Wildhorse and at the ranch. Sounds like where ever you hit them up, you will have good success. The clarity was bad at all where I was fishing. There was fine moss particles in the Wildhorse area where I had to clean off my line after every reel in. But the kokes were playful.

I went up with Tuna on and we had a blast. Like Tuna wrote, we saw lots of kokes in the 2.5 lb range, but could'nt find one over 3 this time. We decided to fish each of our favorite gear, Tuna with Christenson's Lake Shore Tackle spinners, and me with Kokanee Creek Tackle squids and spinners. Tuna did quite well with his red-silver-red with hammered silver, and I with a "Bronco" spinner until it got torn off. The Pink UV squid also did well behind a Silver Streak dodger. Lots of fun Tuna, we'll have to get together for another run up there...

Bduck Thanks for the info! Me and my Brother In Laws went out yesterday and had very good time. I just wish we had taken your advice to go out to Wild Horse earlier. We spent the first portion of the morning at a place that had a lot of fishermen. (We thought they knew something we didn't) We only got one Koke on a double pink squid with a silver rm dodger. So we went over to Wildhorse at 12:30 and then we started having fun until the wind blew us off the lake around 2:30. We ended up going back out around 6:00 hoping the wind would stop so we could go trolling again. However the wind didn't stop so we pulled into a little cove that blocked us from the wind and caught around 15 rainbows and small lake trouts. We had our best success with the double pink squids with silver dodgers trolling around 20 to 35 feet and using a couple of different needle fish lures in the copper colors. At the end of the night we found that a hot pink needle fish was driving the fish crazy. Hope some of this info helps. Good luck out there and thanks again Bduck.
