Home made DR Mount

The store bought Scotty rail mount did not fit my boat and was gouging the fiberglass. Some 6"x6"x3/4" plywood blanks and some 3" machine screws and I have some tight mounts.

Very nicely done. Nothing quite as satisfying as a successful DIY boat project.

Whatever gets er done. I got an aluminum road sign incorporated into my mounts. Nice job.

If you didn't, I would suggest you prime and paint them or apply 2-3 coats of varnish to protect them. Also if the wood is contacting the fiberglass you could glue a strip of felt or rubber at the contact point. Those little sticky green felt circles could work.

Nice job Bovine...I also had to get creative with my DR mounts for my pontoon boat. Very satisfying when a plan comes together!!
