I've gone to number #4 sickle hooks (red)on everything. I have no problem work excellent for me. Your fishing Pole flexability has a lot to do with your catch and lost percentage. On the larger fish at Wickiup this year I went to double snubbers and ran a two foot leader from the snubbers to the swing blade. that was the medicine some of these fish were in the two pound class. No more lost fish at the boat.

why bother with all that and just use a downrigger release on the dodger which is tied to your rigger weight. Clip the line to the release with a lite setting and now when the fish strikes it pulls free with nothing between you and the fish but your line. I use this often with two lines one of the dodger 36 inches and one off a second release two feet higher with enough line out so it runs a little behind the dodger. I find the top one bait is the most productive and with one line out i just put a weight behind the dodger to make it work right and fish with the top release.
