Back at work today and missing being on the water.
We fished Tues - Thurs mornings. Fishing was great and catching fair at 8-10 kokes each morning plus a few mac pups. Bite was early and did not reoccur later, at least for us. Couple neighbors in campground reported catching kokes less than 15 feet. We did best 20-30 early, then 45 later. Lures or color did not seem to matter as we'd get a couple on anything we threw out looking for the hot ticket. Finally just settled on a pink or a green squid behind a tsunami or like dodger - the KISS principle in action. Tues and Wed kokes were smaller than I'm used to at the Gorge, though we kept one 2.5 lb each day for dinner. Thursday morning we finally got into some nice fish and ended up going home with our limit of 3 - 3.5 pounders.
The armada's were substantial both at Rawlings and Middle Marsh, and we generally stayed to their fringes as is our preference unless clear indication that the kokes are more densely schooled than seemed to us.
SuperD and his (much better) half stopped by Wed evening for a nice visit. We hope they did, and are doing, well as we left Thursday morning without running into them.
Tight lines.
