I could use some advice if y'all would be willing to help me out a little. I'm getting ready to upgrade my useless fishfinder. There are so many options out there that I don't even know where to start. I'm looking to spend about $600 or less on the unit. Anyone have any advice or insight that could help me out? Thanks in advance.

Scoultrup, I would start by asking myself, just what you are wanting the new finder to do. Are you going to troll deep for some big macs, or maybe jig for them, then you need a unit with oddles and gobbles of power. Are you going to troll 30-60 ft down for kokes, maybe need something with not so much power. Do you know the area your fishing, if so then getting a unit without g.p.s. or a chart plotter would suit you better. Myself I use a Garmin 400-C, which is only 2 yrs old and they don't make it anymore? I mainly troll for kokes didn't need all the goodies a lot of other finders offer, but THATS JUST ME. hope this helps?

Most of us are lucky if we know our way around our own unit. Call this number and speak with Gil. He is knlowledgeable about all units and won't pressure you to buy a specific brand.

Plumber - I am, real happy with it, pretty darn simple (manual is still under the seat, but I keep saying I'll look at it one of these day! - of course it's safe to say I'm not taking full advantage of it, as most of us just find what we want/need out of them and don't bother with the rest)

My biggest concern is with transducer on minn kota bow mount will I get interference like I do with my lowrance x 70A
