Jiging

Caught a couple by casting a jig along the surface, but not in the traditional sense. The fish aren't down deep enough yet. Wait until the water warms up.

Yes I thought is was kind of early. The fish in Hayden Lake, where I have been fishing are not schooling at all yet. They are scattered throughout the water column from 5' to 50'.
What colors do you like in jigs?

Pink and white or Pink with UV/silver tape have been the best for me. If you find any fish jumping or right on the surface, try casting to them and just swim the jig through the school. You might get lucky and find a koke that is willing to hit the jig. I just have my spinning rod set up with a jig while trolling, and if I see a riser, I send a jig his way.

We have caught a few at Green Peter, by casting to shallow fish. I have heard reports of big numbers being taken if you can find them schooled up.tooexcited.
