Here's the pics from Tortuga's solo trips...I had to go to the dentist and get my hair cut, so I chose NOT to go with him. After 33 days on the road together, a well-deserved break for us both. LOL

Nice fish for NM:

On the board:

I'm usually the one who hogties the fish to get it in, but this was a stranglehold:

Tortuga's Early Limit Stick:

Guess I better go on the next trip to Melones!!

New Melones

I hit Melones this week for the first time since early in June. What a difference!
Weds 7-21 (Froggie didn't want to fish on Tues...her birthday):
We hit the lake around 6:30 and fished til noon. We didn't do much. We ended boating 4 and taking 2 home for dinner. Nothing was really hot. The fish were 8-14 inches.

Thurs 7-22: Froggie had some appointments so I went solo. Once again I fished 6:30-12:00 and did ok. I only boated 4...released 1 and kept 3. 2 were over 16 inches!! Man it was tuff netting those bad boys alone! Missed a bunch of fish...both ldrs and sdrs, not to mention all the drive bys! A silver apex and a wedding ring were the stars.
35-45 feet deep at 1.5 on the gps. I was everywhere from the spillway to the dam.

Friday 7-23once again Froggie had stuff to do)
Today I only fished until 9:15 and had my 5. It was nonstop action from the start. They were a little shallower today and seemed to like orange and the wedding ring. I used mainly maggots instead of corn and was still hitting them at 1.5 mph. The best smell was garlic and then Jared Johnson's sockeye slayer. They were all 14-15 inches. I boated 7 kokes and 1 trout. Released a couple of small ones and the trout. Once again I was all over the lake. Talked to Ric, Dennis, Gadget, and a few other people...think they were hooking up too.
I'll try to get some pics on later.
See you out there
