Here's a photo of kokanee caught three different ways on the same jig. The fish on the left was caught on the "blade bait" version where the line is attached to the top of the back...unbelievable sonic vibration! The middle kokanee was caught with the hook attached to the head. The kokanee on the right was caught with the hook traditionally attached to the tail. All were caught vertical jigging, 5 ft off bottom, in 55 feet of water. All hooks are black nickel, double style by Gamakatsu.
The Sonic Kandlefish is also a deadly-effective trolling lure for rainbow & cutthroat. I love flat-line trolling it in the evening...using the tail-hook version (I attach two double hooks, back to back. Very few fish are missed with this rigging). The last time out, on Lake Sutherland (15 miles west of Port Angeles), I stopped counting after 17 rainbows in less than 45 minutes. Mack's Lure, in Wenatchee WA, will be marketing the Sonic Kandlefish.
