Fished this Sat at the PK Derby with Rachel this time and overall it was a pretty slow bite for us and apparently a lot of others. In the end we boated a handful of Kokanee but all around 13 inches except one that was 16.5, mainly between 35 and 45 feet. It was a Hoochie bite for us, mainly pink and we didn't really have any Kokanee action until 9:30 around the Goat Island area. In between our target species we were kept entertained with flurries of small trout. Rachel managed to take 4th in the junior division with her Kokanee. The funny thing was that my only big fish of the day weighed at 16.5 weighed more than two 13 inch fish combined. Great weather this year and lots of fishing friends to chatter about Kokanee.

Now for a few photos...

I was required to do the Kokanee net dance so try and stir up some action. This EGO S2 Slider Extendable net has now been kid approved as they have blessed it by netting fish. It's extends to almost 10 feet, lightweight rubber so it is hook and fish friendly. and better yet IT FLOATS! KokaneeMart.com has them on their home page currently to get more info.

KP derby? you mean CIFFI right? Thanks for the details and congrats to your daughter in the derby. Did you happen to hear about anyone finding them by the dam in unusual numbers? Thought I read something about that. Hope I can get out there soon.

Hey Old School.... I thought it was a Freudian slip but I wrote PK which equates to Project Kokanee = CIFFI. None the less there were not any reports derby day that I know of from the dam but I heard rumors there were some. The only way to know will be to check it out.

For sure the bite was off during the event. At least in my boat!!! Reports of a wide open bite on Sunday is just what I expected. Good seeing ya Kevin and I'll see ya this weekend @ Melones.
