Every year we brave the Berryessa waters on Labor Day weekend on Sunday hoping the lake lice will spend time sobering up before tearing up the waters. That part came true and the fishing was just like previous years with a fast and furious morning bite and then a hunt and peck for the rest of the time.
In the morning we Assassinated them literally with the RMT Assassin lures. It got to the point of running 3 of 4 lines with the Assassins in the Pinks and Purple combos and then past mid morning we started mixing it up with Hoochies from RMT in flavors of Cotton Candy on Pink and Green. All fish from 62-92 feet. We were in the Skier's cove area the entire time and there was a small fleet of about 10 boats total.
Also talked to old A-Netter Mallen who called out on the radio so we shared some info. I haven't seen or talked to him in along time.
We brought home 15 fish in the range of 15.5 to 18.5 with one dinker and a King in the mix. We lost a few and had number of short strikers as those hook jaws were swatting at the lures. We did find some small schools every once in a while but most of the action was when we were not seeing them on the finder. Of all the fish 2 were beyond their prime, even for the smoker and the rest were fine smoker and some eating quality. There's definitely a few weeks left for some fun action out there on Berryessa.
On with the picture show... maybe some video down the road.
The usual sunrise shot...
It was a Chinese Fire Drill in the morning as the ladies tripled up...
My Purple Kokanee...
You have to watch these Vampire Kokanee... they will nip at you if you are not careful..
