Yesterday ( Feb. 14) I fished Lake Cavenaugh. I arrived at the lake at 7:15 A.M. and was in the water by 7:30. Temp was 39 deg. The water temp was 39.5 at the center of the lake on the east end. The wins were east at appproximatly 15mph with gusts to 20. Very few fish showed on the sounder.
As I trolled down the lake to the west end, the water temp droped to 38.1 deg. By the time I reached the west end the wind had started to drop.
When the wind reached 1 to 5 mph, the kok's ( assumed) started hitting the surface. They looked small , maybe 6-8 inches. I could not induce them to bite. I went home empty handed. That was the expected outcome.
Did I forget to mention- it rained and hailed while I was out- almost the whole time. I left the lake at noon.
The reason for the trip was to get the water temp. The trip was a success.
