Lake Whatcom was good to me today. My wife and I arived at the launch at the south east end of the lake at 9:30 a.m. kokanee were jumping all over the third basin. By the time we launched the boat, there were three ski boats running over the jumpers. Headed out that way , and had a fairly good day. Kept 5 koks and threw back a couple that were too small to even think about. Also threw back 5 or 6 cuttthroat. (required on lake Whatcom
) Size was on the small side (9 to 10 inches ) but for the first koks of the year for me they tasted good.
They were caught on a Hildebrand spinner on the surface, a wedding ring (red ) on the surface, and a pink hooche on a downrigger at 50 feet. We did use shoe peg corn on all but the Hildebrand spinner.
Off the lake by 2:00 p.m. as the wind was above 15mph.Sorry no pictures.
