I have seen a couple guys use lead core in the early season when fish are in the top 30' but they go deep we fished 90' last week for 8 fish smallest was 17" biggest 20" rrealy geting slow now and fish are red.Kokes may be done for me this year.
A lot of the tackle we buy has a warning from California that it is dangerous and contains lead .I'm talking spinnerblades spoons you name it,maybe it is in the paint. If lead were totally banned we may not have a whole lot to fish with. There is some bill in the US congress now that would ban lead in fishing gear. We all need to let them know how we feel about a possible lead ban.101shock1101
Lead core is a very good option for those who don't use riggers. Even at times I used core when I was more for fishing the upper water columns. I have tons of lead weights for downrigging as well in the form of sinkers. Maybe I need to get rid of it out of my tackle storage so it will lighten the load. 101idea101 During the waterfowl hunting season, lead shot is a no no but I haven't seen a ban on lead shot on upland game bird hunting yet. Go figure.
The is a senate bill a float that proposes all lead in fishing tackle be banned. Essentially, all lead containing materials would be made illegal. No lead line or lead downrigger weights. I guess just another example of when things go too far to one side.
