line counter reel issue

i have cabelas line counter reels which perform great, but i have 2 okuma line counter reels that are always having reset button problems, the switch under the button will stick and not pop up properly

anyone have a short or long term fix other than returning the reels (have had them well over 6 mos now)? would spraying wd-40 inside the mechanism hurt anything?

thats what i did and it worked

wd-40 works but on plastic parts I find spray silicone lasts longer and keeps water off better. dfly

thanks for the replies, i used wd-40 and they work great now, i asked my friend who is a skilled machinist (he likes many of your creations on your boat by the way dragonfly) and he too said silicone will be better long term, ill have to pick some up

not many people in Idaho are still kokanee fishing, anyone in Oregon / Washington fishing still and if so how's the bite? its red hot at my local reservoir
