Hey I was just wondering what line size everyone is using for fishing the Kokes. I fish the Gorge all summer and am using 10lb p-line. Do you think this is too big and I should down size to say 8lb? And what would be the advantages vs disadvantages?
Thanks

Kokanee, everyone does it different and that doesn't mean one is right and the rest are wrong. But, you happen to use what I use so you're perfect! thumbsup

I just respooled and used 10lb Maxima Ultragreen for backing with 8lb Maxima Ultragreen on top for the trolling reels. On the jigging reels, I went with lo-vis green Stren Super Braid in 8lb (2lb dia) then a 10' section of 6lb Vanish Fluorocarbon.

I have one set of rigs set up with a 20lb braided for which I like its performance for some heavier trolling. I spooled up on my ultra-lites with 8lb Maxima Ultragreen.

our east coast stillfishing line specs.

for stillfishing at night in ct, that is my specialty we use 4lb test max,, sometimes 2 lb test why????? for our style fishing ,clear water, trout about also,,, and yes trout are lineshy and even kokes when stillfishing.i figire when trolling a koke homes in on the particular lure while it is speeding away,,so it is not hitting a motionless or stationary bait such as maggot, corn etc,, but again this line size suits my need under our conditions,,also a ballistic koke on 2lb line 40ft down at nite is like a chinese firedrill in the boat, gotta love night fishing kokes and trout.

I have been using 10lb Maxima Ultragreen on my main line for many years with good results, of course I change it once in awhile. I top it off with a good quality flourocarbon leader.thumbsup

I have been using Stren Magna Thin for several years. I use ten lb for kokes and twenty for salmon and rock fish in the ocean. You can put as much ten lb line on your reel with Magna Thin as six lb with regular line. I have had really good luck with it.
