Has anyone out there taken a Cannon Mini Mag downrigger apart to lube it? I took mine apart because one of them was blowing the circuit breaker. I was told that the old Cannon grease turned hard after a long time of use (which mine has). I have mine all apart and looking into the gear box at the end of the motor there does not appear to be any grease inside. There is grease on the output gear but nothing inside the gear box. Should there be lube inside here and if so should it be filled and what grade of lube should be used. Any ideas?

I got a mini mag, but not sure about the grease. I would call Cannon direct to be sure. Another option is Fishermans wearhouse in Sacramento, CA which is a factory service center. Ask for the guy the services the Cannons.
