recreation.gov is currently accepting reservations for this next season. I'm excited to see the new campground layout. Just waiting for the 6 month out date to make mine for the end of June.

Below are some cell phone photos taken of the progress as of two months ago. Talking to the campground host at the time, I was informed that the place wouldn't be open until Memorial Day 2012. Hopefully the contractor will stick to the schedule?

Here is a list of improvements that are underway. A thru D loops were under construction at the time the photos were taken.
Gone: Those hideous concrete barriers, green metal cabanas, and all the old asphalt roadways.

Planned: New concrete pads for picinic tables, concrete windbreaks, fire rings & Bar-B-Q grills, power to 78 campsites, automated irrigation system and final landscaping.

That may be true? Like I said, my information was from October. Keep in mind that Recreation.Gov is based back on the East Coast and their staff doesn't know anything other than what they're told. I'll trust the local campground host over anyone in Washington DC.
