Fished out of Anvil Friday - Monday.

Friday brought scattered Kokes biting 18-24 ft. No heavy schools, but enough action to keep us pacified. Some good 18" fish w/ a few small fish mixed in. Best bait was a 4" Silver E-Chip with a pink squid. Fished body baits shallow (20-35ft) in the late afternoon taking advantage of a rare afternoon with little wind. Pretty quick action on rainbows (16-20") and produced a 3 lb and 8 lb Laker.

Saturday: Fished Kokes early w/ limits coming easy in 20-24ft depths. 17-19" fish mostly. Lost a 4 lb fish at the net... Hot lure was the classic silver/brass 4" with orange squid. 2nd Best was the E-chip and pink again. Wend to fish for rainbows and lakers afterward. Found steady BIG marks on bottom in 28-35ft of water. Couldn't get them to go, but the rainbows were more than willing once again.

Sunday: Went to fill up our kokanee limit again (only need enough for what we had been eating in camp). Fish came easy from 24-35ft. Hot baits were E-Chip/pink and rainbow dodger/pink. Starting trolling rainbows and lakers around 9:30. Caught a few pups, lots of rainbows (again) and one 6 lb laker. Trolled the big marks again with one hit and spit....

Monday: Decided to change the game and went straight to the "big marks" in 30ft of water and set up trolling large body baits in the first hour of light. First hit was 2 minutes in with the most turbo charged laker we've ever battled. The 13lb fish took 20 minutes to boat. In 90 minutes, we landed a 5 lb, 10 lb and 13 lb and lost two more that came un-buttoned. We also landed 2 more rainbows (no surprise) that ate 7" lures.... Had to cut out early to travel back home.

All in all, a great trip.

We just got back from the Gorge. Arrived at Buckboard Sunday evening because of daughters work schedule. Fair number of campers in the forest service camp ground lower loop where there are a few power hook ups, bur no one in upper loop where we usually camp. Moderate number of boats Monday, Memorial day, but not as many as on June, July and August weekends. Hardly anyone out this morning. As for fishing, just about what freshie posted. Lotsa mack pups on the koke stuff, a few rainbows, and enough jokes to keep us going. Most of the kokes were 2.5 - 3 lbs, with only a few smaller ones on occasion.
