Well, despite the terrible reports coming from Merwin I decided to throw in the towel and make my first trip of the year to the lake. I hit the ramp at the crack of 2:30 pm and headed out to fish. Had close to 25 hookup's and landed 10 nice fish betwenn 13 -15". Since it was close to dinner and my wife kept texting me asking when I'd be home we packed up about 4:45 and called it a day. Not a bad start to the season....oh yeah, just in case you haven't heard, the HOT color is pink! Glad to FINALLY get back out there, looking forward to another great season.

Heading up there Friday 4/22 third trip this spring and I'm sure it will be another limit....yes pink is the color this year as it was last year but for fun I'm going to try some other colors just see if there is a big difference in the bite.....UV white, UV green and UV orange/white hoochies I will be testing along with a couple small spin glows I tied up... always fun to try new stuff.

Nice job out there. We have also caught some on silver and a few on blue. Sometimes I think a bare hook could catch some right now! My only complaint so far is the low water level and the full parking lot!

Merwin-4-20-11 Hot? NOT!!!!

Spent most of the day on the lake with a good friend of mine ! After I've been telling him how Great the fishing has been he finally made it today. Soooo, He was in the water with a pink hoochie while I was getting rigged up and had the 1st one in the boat before I even got in the water!!
Wow! this is GREAT! Little did we know that we wouldnt get another for a couple of hours!!

Slow was the word today & I wont even tell you how how many we caught BUT it wasnt a LIMIT.......for either one of us!!!

The good news is the Lake is FULL again!! Its been comming up the last couple of days so at least I can blame the rising water on the poor fishing!

We all have days like that. However, anytime you can get out on the water is a good day. You are right it's a beautiful lake and fished it, for the first time, a few weeks back with some friends.

Thanks for the report Kokonuts! I have been wanting to get back out there, but have had too many things interfere lately. At least the water is up I guess. Maybe things will get back to normal up there with the launch situation.

not really sure what the issue is? we have limited out with 4 or less rods every trip this year, while I agree the fishing was much slower a few days ago when I was there.. we still got 20 fish and lost that many........ those 20 made it over 800 this spring.... pink has been good, so has basically any color......
