Ok, I'm old, and getting tired of hauling in 50' of anchor rope and anchor. My wife won't do it anymore,101thumbsdown101,, so I'm wanting to get some ideas about electric powered anchor winches. My boat is a 18' bass style boat, and I have the usual electric trolling motor and fish finder up front, so I do have a 12v plug available to hook up a electric winch. Looking for some input about what seems to work for you guys. What say you ?

This would work from any distance off the bow as long as you can find room to mount the roller on either side of the trolling motor. You could also mount the winch to a box that can come on and off the boat when you don't need it.

I've checked out the Trac and Powerwinches, and the Powerwinches seem to have better reviews. Take a look at the Trac reviews on the link you posted, and you will see what I mean 101thumbsdown101
I have room to mount a unit up front, but I'm just trying to find a unit that has the best reviews possible. Hopefully from some posts from users on our forum.

I put one on a drift boat. I modified it to fit the tramsome angle. The one I got powered up and out. I prefered this method for anchoring in the river because it gave me more control in anchoring and I can move up and down the hole. For the lake it might not matter how the line is deployed as long as it will let out more line after hitting the bottom to enabel you to have enough scope for proper anchoring.
