New boat, I need help in deciding what type of electronics to install?

I am looking for a 8 to 10 inch fishfinder that is very easy to use, please advise with any info. I am undecided between the Lowarance HDS Gen 2 or a comparable Hummingbird. Things have changed since i last bought a fish finder.The dealer i am buying the boat from is recomending a Garmin 4208. We currently fish for Kokanee, but I would like to start chasing the Mack's In the Gorge. Thanks for any input.

I have the Hummingbird 1197 which is a few years old. Have had great success. I think that the Hummingbird setup will cost you a little less for the same capability. If you run a Minn Kota, and or Canon riggers the Humminbird has some nice interfaces. The new Hummingbird 360 degree sonar would be real plus in my book since you don't have to be moving to get the side scan image. Also the customer support that I have received with the bird has been really good. They continually update the software for free. Nice to be able to improve on what you bought rather than have to buy a new model to get some of the new features. Hope this helps. Both are quality units.
