Hi everyone,

A friend told me about this forum and figured I would seek some advice from the pros!

I just bought a boat this week (Four Winns) 170 Horizon, not the best fishing boat. But the wife wanted something the kids could have fun with also.

So, I'm new to the Boise area, moved here a couple years ago and haven't had a chance to get out and do much fishing. I could really use some advice on where to do some fishing.

I don't have downriggers yet, I got a fishfinder with the boat but it needs to be installed. Should I have someone do this for me or is it pretty easy to do? So with my current setup, where is a good place to start fishing? I'll coming to look through the forums, just wanted to get a post in!

Thanks,

Eren

Hi,

Welcome to the forum!

As a professional mariner here are some tips on the very 1st things you should learn !

1. Make sure your boat is properly outftted and with "all safety equipment".

2. Always -> And I mean "ALWAYS" check the weather (Wx) reports + doppler radar to see what and which direction Wx is coming from.

3. Always Obey the "Rules of the Road" (Boating laws) and give your fellow boaters marine courtesy "all the time".
Speeding by others causing waves + wash and wake is plain down right "RUDE" and possibly cause an accident !

4. As for the fishing -> There is a wealth of info here on the forum and people will do much to help you!

Have FUN !
