thank you very much i mainly fish merwin and swift but the drive to swift is a long one

I have one last question i dont run downriggers can you get away with using a 2 or 3 oz lead on the lamiglass rod?

thanks again

for weight trolling, I suggest something with more backbone to pull the 2>4 oz you'll need to reach depth.

Fisherman's Marine in Delta Park Portland has the Berkley Buzz Ramsey series rods on sale. get the 8lb to 12lb or 8 to 14 lb rated Buzz Ramsey Berkley IM8 graphite casting trolling rod for weight trolling.

good steelhead and lt. salmon silver rod also.
still rig up the reel on it with 8lb test, plenty heavy for kokes and has stretch/give for the soft mouthed kokes.

the Lamiglass glass rod, the Team Kokanee Jared fiberglass along with the Diawa lt. rods won't handle weight trolling. by the time you get 3oz of weight, sling blade and lure you're up to 6oz or more. need backbone to pull that.

Yale Reservoir is just up the road and river from Merwin, really hot koke fishing this year and a natural heavy spawn lake. far less crowded boat launches on the weekends than Merwin zoo.

Fisherman's also has hollow egg sinkers and mooching banana shaped sinkers for low resistance trolling. i like the hollow egg because they will slide up the line when a fish jumps, less chance of the fish using the weight as leverage to pull out hook.
use a 1/4" bead below the egg sinker on the line so the sinker doesn't damage the knot.

thank you for all the information . I was just at fishermans over the weekend i didnt see the berkley's on sale i really like the im7 rods

Lundprov I usea Lamiglas 7'0" cg70dr 4-10 lb. line 1/8-1/4 oz. lure classic glass Rod in all the lakes in WA. and it is an awsome rod for our needs ! I fish lake wa. alot and it handles a 8lb. land lock black mouth with no prob. I all so use a lamiglass 7'0" line wt. 2-8 lb. lure wt. 1/8-1/2 oz. lure ultra light rod . These rods run about $60 to $100 in your local sporting goods store , and well worth the buy! Far as using led weights I like to use a keel weight they run true and get you down where you need to be !

I have 2 of the JJ rods and I think they should work well for trolling with lead weights.

For trolling with my DR's I really like the new Okuma Ceilo SST Kokanee rods. The come in 7'0' & 7'6' lengths. They have 11 line guides wich really help and they are much lighter than the others. The best part is the price about $40
I fish Merwin a lot and I'll be up there Fri. & Sat. this week.
Look fo me in the 18ft. Hewes ,white sides, black top called "SHES SO FINE".
