New Melones Troutin @ Night 08/22-23/09

My buddy Joe gave me the call earlier last week that the night bite 4 big rainbows was on as he caught 7 up to 3 plus pounds last tuesday. So I decided to make the run up to Sonora on sat afternoon.

We fished near the spillway in 160 ft of water, had a submersible light off each side of the boat and fished sliding rigs anywhere from 22-40 pulls w 1/8 oz egg sinkers, 4-5ft leaders and mini crawlers w a small ball of power bait @ the end of the hook. We managed 8 nice bows fishing from 730pm sat nite until 430am sun morn. Bite didnt really pickup until we got a little bit of weather n rain around 330am. really nice. I think thats the only way to go out on Melones, and get 8 nice bows in one trip. Plus, you were out of the heat. Very nice. All the years Ive lived minutes form Melones, I've never night fished the Spillway.
