Greetings. I am a native Minnesotan who is just beginning to fish Colorado, though I have resided here the past twenty-odd years. I am renting a cabin in Grand Lake in about 10 days and am going to head up there this week to get the feel of the lake for a day or so. I'll rent a boat and hit the water, hopefully with a bit of local lore. Any suggestions for catching kokanee in my first "high country" experience? Thanks.

go see the folks at Budget tackle in Granby , they should be able to stear you on to whats working. have fun ya sure ya minesota feller ....No Dakota guy here......

The folks at Budget can be helpful. Pick yourself up a couple RMT dodgers and try various spoons and spinners behind it. Coming from another N.Dak boy. Good Luck to ya.

If you are going up to Granby, a change in species might be the ticket. Granby is an incredible Lake trout fishery but I wouldn't target it as a kokonee hot spot over the last few years. Wolford is doing really well right now. that's about 35 minutes away, there's also Williams Fork which has kokonee, lakers, and being a minnesota boy (I grew up there) it's got plenty of big Northerns to chase.
