After a very long absence, my wife and I are getting back into fishing, particularly for Kokanee at Green Peter Reservior in Oregon, as GP is only a half hour from home. We'll be doing some trolling in our little boat, and I'll be working on some downriggers to help with the catching success.

I used to fish Oregon's McKenzie River many years ago and I used Trilene XL mono for my line, but now the choices for fishing lines are overwhelming. Here's one fellows opinions and I also welcome yours:

He mentions Tectan Premium Plus as the best fishing line he's ever used. I found some, but I know nothing about this mono, how about you?

Thanks for your input! 101cheers101

I used Tectan when I was heavy into spin casting as at the time, the biggest selling point for it was its ultra thin diameter. Trolling for Kokes, this doesn't come into play. Stealth isn't real critical for Kokes that aren't a line shy fish. Get a good, sturdy 10 lbs - 12 lbs main line like Maxima. I've had great success with an inexpensive line from Wal Mart called "Big Game" in the 10 lbs class.

Edit: The Big Game line shows as 2nd on your attached rating list under, "Low Cost per Yard"

Edit II: Your author states that he casts 400 times a day, hence his choice.

I picked up some Tectan in the 9lbs size to try out but I am a little concerned that the thin diameter may cause a little problem with the release. We shall see.

I use p-line on all my reels and have had no problems.

I also call GP my home lake, maybe I will see you up there, plus there is a derby there June 11th.
